How Cached Pages Saved The Day
Recently, a prospect came to us and stated that they had a website, but the site was hacked. In trying to clean things up, his site was accidentally terminated which deleted the entire site's content.
He called to see if there was something we could do to help him out.
Luckily, he didn't wait too long to talk to us. There is a wonderful thing known as "cached pages". These are static copies of pages as they were when the pages were last crawled by the search engine, such as Google and Bing.
When you are looking at a SERP (search engine result page), you may notice a little drop down arrow next to the url of the site:
When you click on the Cached Page link, the search engine will show you the page as it was the last time the page was crawled by the search engine:
This can really save the day when it comes to rebuilding a lost database of content. We were able to rebuild the (now) customer's website and find all of their old data. Needless to say, this client is happy and will probably stick with us for a long time to come.
